A VERY hot room, sold out crowd, with air-conditioning not working provided the backdrop for a sweaty set from James & the band. Always the professionals they delivered a blistering set. House Of Cards followed by Beautiful People, then Daughters Of The Northern Coast was the only minor change in the set. The band are really in form, and a review or photos don't really paint the full picture. Always a pleasure to witness James and the band live in concert. Sadly there are only a few more shows left on this tour, and for the year. Nice to see you there Wrangler.
Considering the enormity of James' seemingly never ending touring itinerary, I am loathe to criticise and be finicky, however, the absence of "Indisposed" was palpably missed (at least) by this observer.
Never mind. As Incrediboy points out it was one smoking, white hot show.
Not many opportunities to see JR before the end of the year...and we've only just started February? Just how long will he be resting, I wonder?
Prior to the gig, I had a difficult decision to make.
Cricket or James Reyne (I really needed a cloning machine).
Making my exit from the SCG as evening approached, a malaise overwhemed me as I knew I was sacrificing a 'great love'.
Never before had I left a cricket match before its conclusion, but after witnessing "The James Reyne Band" in full flight, I knew in my heart I had made the right call.
Irrespective of there being no buses in the CBD, and necessitating a long walk to Wynyard Station.
This is another tale...or diatribe...for another time.
If you have a chance to see Mr Reyne, do it sooner than later.
