Hi James, Great news that an album of new material is on the horizon, very much looking forward to that....I was just wondering if you had been recording/taping any of the James Reyne plays Australian Crawl shows with plans to release them? (ie DVD or CD or both, similar to One Night In Melbourne)?....I saw both your shows in Brisbane in August and they were brilliant, the band were sensational....particularly for a "night of novelty songs" haha....

What recent / new albums have you enjoyed listening to? What are the last five albums that you've purchased that you've really loved? Is there any new music that you like? How big is your record collection? Any upcoming releases from other artists that you're eager to hear? What do you want to do next?
In all your recent interviews you describe your past as "barely controlled yelling" and I've sensed your frustration in constantly being asked about AC. In a perfect world, would you be happy to perform only what you really wanted to, (say, only songs from Thirteen, EMAK and Speedboats for Breakfast) than being obligated to play songs that were past hits that you don't necessarily think are as good as your current songs? Given no restrictions, what would be your ideal set-list?
I'm constantly amazed at the quality of your recordings. All your records sound great and have such a great big production sound. How long do you spend on the recordings and mixing them? How satisfied have you been with the way they've sounded?

That 21 was politely keeping myself under control. I have about a hundred more questions for James. Probably most interested to hear about his record collection. He seems to have pretty eclectic tastes and I reckon if you got him talking about music then you'd have an interesting hour or two being educated.
I agree, Rickerbound, would love to know what is played in the Reyne household, not withstanding Molly is a teenager, and most likely has very different tastes in music, hopefully she is very proud of the music her Dad has composed and sung over his career, Sylvie
1)Will your next album be as experimental as Thirteen was? 2)Do you find time to do songwriting when you're touring? 3)Which method of songwriting has worked best for you-music first, lyrics later or the other way around? 4)Any songwriters you would like to collaborate with or do you much prefer writing alone? 5)You've spoke in the past of your fondness for Dan Hicks And His Hot Licks. For someone who's often wondered what they sound like, what album of theirs would be a good place to start?
Hello Mr Reyne, I mistakenly created a new thread earlier- I have noticed an absence of your material within the EDM / dance scene. What are your thoughts regarding the use of your vocals in this type of music? I'm actually a diesel mechanic but I do a bit of home producing. I'm particularly interested in the vocals from "Slave" and wondered if there would be any material of yours available to work with? For personal use and your interest of course! Thanks Regards Luke
